ROSS Portable High Shear Mixing System

ROSS Portable High Shear Mixing System

October 29, 2026

The ROSS Batch High Shear Mixers (HSM) are designed for high-intensity mixing, emulsification, homogenization of liquids and slurries and are widely used in a variety of industries, including pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic, ink, adhesives, chemicals, and coatings. The ROSS HSM may be configured as a vessel-mounted unit or as a stand-alone unit on a mobile lift for servicing multiple vessels.

Ideal for pilot-scale processes, the pictured ROSS Model HSM-105 is installed on a 45-gallon working capacity portable vessel and is driven by 5 HP explosion-proof motor. The four-blade, 3.5" diameter rotor operates at speeds up to 3,600 rpm within a close tolerance slotted stator, expelling product at high velocity and with intense hydraulic shear into the surrounding mix.  The dished bottom vessel with flush 2" ball valve ensures complete product discharge and convenient cleaning.

The vessel cover features a hinged loading section, lifting lugs, and clamps for securing it to the vessel. A thermowell installed in the vessel sidewall enables batch temperature monitoring. The vessel is mounted on stainless steel legs with casters and includes a handle for easy movement around the production floor. End users can choose various other customizations such as heating/cooling jacket, vacuum/pressure design, high polish on wetted surfaces, special valves, ports and washdown motor, to name a few.

The NEMA 12 control panel includes a 5 HP variable frequency drive and a 4" color touchscreen with start/stop control, speed adjustment and display, load monitoring, temperature display, and cycle timer. Standard safety features include an Emergency Stop button, main disconnect with lockout provision, motor fuse protection, and safety circuit provision.
