How it Works
Benefits of choosing a ROSS/AMK Kneader Extruder
What does a ROSS/AMK Kneader-Extruder do?
ROSS/AMK Kneader Extruders combine the efficiency of a double arm - sigma blade mixer with the convenience of an extrusion screw for the mixing and discharging of heavy viscous materials exceeding 10 million cP. These machines are used throughout the chemical, pharmaceutical, plastic, coating, ink, paint, adhesive, composite, and food product industries in the manufacturing of highly viscus, thick and very sticky products such as silicone rubber, putties, printing ink, oxide ceramics, hard metals, and marzipan.
How does a ROSS/AMK Kneader Extruder work?
The Kneader Extruder includes a set of counter-rotating kneading blades and a discharge screw. The blades are mounted on a horizontal axis in a U-shaped trough. Below the blades in a separate cavity is the discharge screw. During the mixing cycle the blades rotate toward each other while the mixing constantly feeds new materials into the mixing blades. After the mixing/kneading cycle is complete, the screw directions are reversed to extrude the finished product from the mix zone out through a discharge die and on to further processing or packaging.

Why Choose a ROSS/AMK Kneader-Extruder?
Design - The ROSS/AMK Kneader-Extruders are available in laboratory and production models with capacities ranging from 5 to 1,000 gallons, as well as a variety of horsepower combinations and optional features such as vacuum design, jacketing, control systems, and controlled torque coupling.
Ease of Use - The Kneader Extruder has several advantages over traditional non-screw discharge kneaders, including faster mixing times and easier cleaning. It eliminates the need to scrape out sticky/tacky materials.
Safety - Eliminates operator exposure to materials of elevated temperatures or of a toxic nature, thereby improving plant safety.
ROSS represents the finest German technology in partnership with AMK Kneader-Extruders and provides mixing solutions for customers in the adhesive, food, rubber and chemical industries.
Kneaders are well proven and reliable mixers employed in the compounding of extremely viscous mixtures that cannot be processed efficiently in vertical-style agitators such as double planetary mixers.
