Ribbon Blender

How the Ribbon Blender Works

Ribbon Blenders consist of a U-shaped horizontal trough and a specially fabricated ribbon agitator. A ribbon agitator consists of a set of inner and outer helical agitators. The outer ribbon moves materials in one direction and the inner ribbon moves the materials in the opposite direction. The ribbons rotate at approx. 300 fpm moves materials both radially and laterally to insure thorough blends in short cycle times. Ribbon agitators are used for blends that will be between 40 and 100% of the rated capacity of the blender.

An alternate agitator is our paddle design. The paddles are positioned to move materials in opposing lateral directions and radially. The paddle design is normally applied where friable materials are being blended and when batches as small as 15% of the total capacity are going to be mixed in one blender.

Ribbon and Paddle designs are available in working capacities to over 515 cu.ft. and in either center or end discharge designs. (BISSC certified)

  • This valve is supplied as a standard feature on all "A" Series stock blenders.
  • The knife gate valve provides a positive shut off and is avaiable for manual or pneumatic operation
  • Flush ball valves are most often used when the belnder is being used for products that are liquids. They provide positive shut off and retain the fluids without leaking.
  • The flush plug design emiminated dead spots between the trough bottom and the valve face. It is ideal for use when minor solids or liquids are being mixed and when pefect mixing is required.
  • The spherical valve deisgn minimizes dead space and is availble for manual or pneumatic operation.
  • The standard stuffing box includes teflon impregnated-braided packing and is split for cleaning.
  • Sanitary Stuffing Boxes are easily disassembled with hand tools for cleaning between batches. This design includes special molded Chevron-Teflon packing rings.
  • Air or liquid seal stuffing boxes include a lantern ring for low pressure purging to prevent the intrusion of materials that might threaten the sahft and seal integrity.
  • The continuous ribbon, designed for center discharge, is the preferred choice for most blends. It provides vigorous lateral and axial movement of your bulk material.
  • The paddle agitator runs at about 2/3 the speed of the comparable ribbon. It provides gentler blending with less heat development.
